We styled the coffee table at Narambi St, Warana, with an open book paired with a trailing pot plant. The book’s cover also added a pop of colour to the coastal-themed living space.

6. Add greenery

Plants and flowers bring life, colour and a certain softness to a living area. Use fresh flowers, succulents or a small plant that spills over the side of the pot to breathe life into your living space. When it comes to styling your coffee table, good things come in threes. Grouping decor items in clusters of three creates impact, minimising the need to clutter your coffee table with more knick-knacks.

Rather than styling your coffee table with a collection of different trinkets, it’s often better to go big and bold with a single, large centrepiece. Lots of smaller pieces and make your table appear cluttered, whereas a larger item can create a bigger visual impact. Think a statement vase, a unique sculpture or an eye-catching book to draw attention and anchor the table’s design. That said, it’s important to make sure the focal point doesn’t overwhelm the space.

10. Keep it functional

Coffee tables serve a purpose, so it’s important to balance style with functionality.
